Perodua full loan in Sabah: does it really mean no deposit?
Financing guide · illustrative calculation
Full loan, zero deposit and 90% financing are different things. Keven explains a RM50,000 example, upfront costs and bank offer checks for Perodua buyers in Sabah.
Quick answer
“Full loan” or “zero deposit” does not prove that a bank finances 100% or that a customer needs no cash. Check the quotation price, approved margin, eligible rebates, insurance and related fees.
Does full loan mean no cash is needed at all?
“Keven, if I take a full loan, does that mean I do not need to pay anything upfront?”
The approved loan amount and the cash a customer actually needs are different. That is why I prefer to explain the numbers first. In everyday conversation, full loan can mean all or almost all of the vehicle price, but the term does not prove 100% financing.
As a product example, Maybank lists a margin of up to 90% of the seller’s invoice for new passenger cars, subject to terms. Other schemes must be checked individually.
Calculation example: RM50,000 price, 90% financing
Illustrative assumptions: the price used is RM50,000 and the bank approves 90% of that amount. This is not a particular Perodua model’s price or a bank offer.
Financing = RM50,000 × 90% = RM45,000.
Remaining price = RM50,000 − RM45,000 = RM5,000.
The customer still needs to provide RM5,000. Insurance and other fees may not be included, depending on the quotation. Official amounts must be calculated from the quotation and financing offer letter.
What if a salesperson says zero deposit?
Ask how the amount is calculated: is it a special scheme, promotion or permitted rebate? What is the price before rebate, what rebate are you eligible for, and how much will the bank finance?
All figures must be clear in official documents. Do not assume a discount covers all upfront costs, and do not use inaccurate invoices or documents. Zero deposit does not mean zero commitment: instalments, insurance, road tax, servicing, fuel and running costs remain.
What about car loan interest in 2026?
According to the joint statement by ABM, AIBIM and ADFIM, the hire-purchase amendments took effect on 1 June 2026, with a bank transition period until 31 March 2027. The changes move towards reducing balance and effective interest rate (EIR).
During transition, banks may continue new financing using Rule of 78 while preparing their systems; some already offer reducing balance. Do not assume all new agreements in October 2026 use the same method.
Ask about the rate type, calculation method, term, instalments and total repayment. Do not compare a flat-rate number directly with EIR as though they are equivalent. This site’s calculator offers flat-rate and reducing-balance modes with separate effective annual EIR input. The initial 6% EIR is an example, not a bank offer. The simulation assumes a fixed rate, month-end payments and no fees; official amounts follow the bank’s offer.
How much deposit should I prepare for a Perodua?
It depends on the model and variant, OTR price, promotions you actually qualify for, approved financing margin, insurance and related costs.
If you are interested in Axia, Bezza, Myvi, Alza, Ativa, Aruz or Traz in Sabah, tell me your preferred model. I can help estimate the price, financing, deposit and instalments with clear assumptions. Official amounts remain subject to the current quotation and bank approval.
