Perodua trade-in in Sabah

By Keven · Updated · Sabah

Prepare to ask about valuing your current car and outstanding financing.

Quick answer

Yes, you can ask about a trade-in when buying a new Perodua. The final value depends on the assessment of your current car and any outstanding loan, so no price is guaranteed before inspection.

Valuation information

Prepare the model, year, variant, mileage, condition and service history. Photos help an initial review; a final price requires actual assessment and buyer agreement.

If there is an outstanding loan

Request an official settlement figure from the bank. Compare it with the offer to understand any surplus or additional cash required. Market value is not the same as the settlement balance.

Before agreeing

Obtain written terms on the price, loan settlement and ownership transfer. Contact Keven to ask whether a trade-in can be arranged. This site does not guarantee trade-in value.

What affects the value

The year, mileage, service record, any accident or flood history, the condition of the tyres and paint, and market demand in Sabah all affect the offer. A car with a complete service record is usually easier to value.

Next steps

Send photos of the exterior and interior by WhatsApp; there is no need to share the registration number publicly. After the assessment, compare the offer with the new car price and your outstanding loan before deciding.

Trade in or sell privately?

Selling privately may get a higher price, but you have to handle buyers, inspections, loan settlement and ownership transfer. A trade-in is usually simpler because it is handled together with buying the new car. Compare both options with real figures.

Prepare your current car’s documents

The registration card or ownership certificate, the owner’s MyKad, the spare key, the service book and any repair receipts. If the car is still under a loan, have the financing account number ready so the settlement balance can be checked.

PUSPAKOM inspection for ownership transfer

A private-car ownership transfer generally requires an inspection. The PUSPAKOM report is called M.V.15 (formerly B5). The inspection fee is RM30; an RM5 booking processing fee may apply, making RM35 where applicable. Other charges may apply. Confirm the current process and total with PUSPAKOM or JPJ, and ask Keven who handles the transfer.
